Wahoo, Here Come The Royals!

After the Royals defeated the O`s 4-2 yesterday and won the series 2 games to 1. They head into Cleveland to take on their division rival the Indians. The Indians are 26-21 on the season and lead the Division by just half a game over the White Sox, who are 26-22. As for the Royals, they are 19-27 and only 6.5 games out of first. They look to come into Cleveland and Continue their winning ways as the Royals are 2-1 in Cleveland this season. So lets get to todays match up.

Today at 3:05pm Clevelands Josh Tomlin will play host to the Royals Nate Adcock. Tomlin is 1-2 on the season with a 4.67 ERA and For Adcock, he is 0-2 with an ERA of 2.33. Tomlin will be making his first appearance since April, when he went on the 15 day DL with an injury to his right wrist, As for Adcock. He's back on his third recall from the minors after being skipped in his last turn of the rotation. Look for a good game here, as it could go either way with these two pitchers, but remember Cleveland is coming off a 3 game sweep by the White Sox, in which they were out scored 35-16 and the Royals , they are continuing their winning ways on the Road and look to keep prevailing in Cleveland tonight.

Tomorrow, at 6:05pm the Indians Justin Masterson will host the Royals Will Smith. Masterson is 2-3 on the season with an ERA of 4.62, while Smith is 0-1 with an ERA of 13.50. Masterson is coming off his second win this season in his last outing against the Tigers on Thursday, as Smith gave up 5 runs and 3 homers in his MLB debut against the Yankees. These two look to improve and get the win, so look for another close game here.

and on Wednesday, may 30, 2012 These two teams wrap up game 3 of the series, as Jeanmar Gomez takes on Bruce Chen. Gomez is 3-3 this season with an ERA of  3.94, while Chen is 3-5 with an ERA of 4.81. Chen is 3-1 this month, giving his best performance since last season. As Gomez looks to get back to his winning ways after a loss in his last outing.

I predict the Royals win this series two games to one and the reason for this is, I think the Royals bull pen is starting to make a come around, as guys are being put into rotation and they are beginning to have fun. Not to mention the trim is on the bit of a downfall. look for close games but a royal victory instead of a tribal pounce.

Good Morning Baltimore!

Good morning Baltimore indeed. After Wednesday nights game between the Yankees, I bet Will Smith thinks this as well. Smith went just 3 1/3 innings, giving up 6 hits, 3 home runs and 5 earned runs, as the Royals drop the Series two games to one. They now head to Baltimore to face the first place team in the AL West. Baltimore is coming off of a Losing series as well, against the Redsox, as they went 1-2 also. So lets break down the series.

Tonight at 7:05pm Jason Hammel and the O`s will host Bruce Chen and the Royals. Hammel enters this game for the O`s at 5-1 with an ERA of 3.12. Chen enters this game @ 3-4 with an ERA of 4.17. Look for a good match-up here as Chen rides in on a 3 game winning streak, not to mention he has gone six or more innings in seven of his nine, which has given the Bullpen much needed respite. He's also keeping the ball down and thaws strikes Consistently, as for Hammel, His arm has been Fatiguing fast in his most recent outings due to his sore right knee. Don't get me wrong, he has been strong in his last two outings, but he did fail to go deeper than 5 innings, and allowed four earned runs. so look for a close game here as Chen Looks to finish the month of May a perfect 4-0 and Hammel looks to make it 6-1 on the season.

Tomorrow May 26, 2012, It will be Orioles, Pitcher to be announced, Verses the Royals Felipe Paulino at 4:05 pm. Paulino is 2-1 this season with an ERA of 1.42. In three of his four starts, Paulino has pitched shutout games, and the last time he faced the O`s, he held them to five hits in a 15 inning loss. His command has always been concerning, but he does have 21 K`s and only five walks in 18 2/3 innings this season. Not bad at all. Who ever he faces, look for a good game and an intense one at that as Paulino looks to seek revenge against the O`s and collect his third win of the season.

Finally, on Sunday, May 27, 2012, They will finish this 3 game series as The O`s have yet another to be announced pitcher going up against the Royals Luke Hochevar. Hoch is 3-5 on the season with an ERA of 6.61. Hoch has put up three solid outings Just as his ERA reached 9.00 after his sixth start of the season. although he`s 1-2 in those three games. Last Tuesday, he went 6 2/3 innings vs. the Yankees, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks. Look for a close game here as well as Hoch seems to struggle here and there.

I have the Royals going 2-1 in this series after the O`s swept the Royals two games to none. I also say this because its a young team seeking revenge against a team of veterans who have been there and done that and third the Royals usually loose after a day off. So look for them to continue their winning ways and who knows, maybe they can sweep the Orioles off their feet as Baltimore is coming fresh off a loss to the RedSox. GO Royals!

On to the Bronx!

As the Royals win 1of 3 against the Diamondbacks, it was a revamped veteran in Bruce Chen who got the win. As he has made it a perfect 3-0 in the month of May. Chen has made a huge turn around since his 0-4 start and looks to be on track. He has gone 6 2/3 innings in his last 3 appearances, allowing only 6 Runs in 20 1/3 innings, and has recorded 16 Strike outs. With Chens new Determination he could possibly help turn this bull pen around. With Everyone having tommy John surgery, Soria, Duffy, possibly Teaford, the young guys, like Nate Adcock, will be looking to Veterans like Chen for advice. The young Royals are making noise through out the MLB, with Moustakas playing great all around, Butler is starting to come around, Falu is making an uproar, and we still Have Cain and Perez to be activated from the DL. So don't count the Royals out just yet, as they still have two months before the All-Star Break and then after the All-Star Break, but for now lets focus on the Task at hand and that is the New York Yankees.

The Yankees Play host to the Royals tonight at 6:05pm. It will be a Rematch between Hiroki Kuroda and Felipe Paulino. The last time these two faced was on May 5, Paulino went 6 full innings for the Royals and gave up no earned runs, and Kuroda went 4 and 1/3 innings giving up 3 runs with 2 earned, and the Royals went on to win 5-1. expect a closer game this time around, Kuroda is 3-1 at home this season, but has lost his last 3 out and Paulino is now 1-1 this season looking to make another impact against the yankees. Look for a close game here as these two pitchers look to break each other down.

On Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 6:05pm Phil Hughes looks to bring the heat against Luke Hochevar. Hughes is 3-5 this season with an ERA of 5.23 as for Hochevar, he is 3-4 with an ERA of 7.02 look for a great match up here as Hughes is on a 2 game win streak, looking to make it 3, as Hoch comes in off a loss looking to Rebound with a win, like he has done all season after each loss. this game will be close as the Youngsters, the Royals, look to keep their 2-2 split and carry out a Win in Bronx and the yanks, the veterans, look to defend their home field.

Finally, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 The Yanks and the Royals wrap up their series, as Andy Pettitte faces Luis Mendoza. Pettitte is 1-1 on the Season, with an ERA of 2.51 since coming out of retirement, as for Mendoza. He has a Record of 2-2 with an ERA of 5.03 while looking to make it a 3 game winning streak after starting 0-2 and having a no Decision in the loss to the Diamondbacks. Look for a great game here as Pettitte looks to add another win to his historic career and Mendoza looks to out pitch the Whitty veteran.

In this series I predict the Royals will go 2-1. Reasons for this are, 1 the Royals Mike Moustakas Hit his first home run in Yankee Stadium and has great productivity in this ball park thus far in his career. 2 the Royals have a good road record and love beating teams on the Road, especially the Yankees. And number 3 The Yankees don't have a closer, and the way the pitching match-ups are at this moment, these games are going to be very close. So they will need a closer. So happy Monday all and Go Royals.

Home Sweepstakes!

The Royals were swept once again. That makes it their fourth time being swept at home this season. This two game slide, to the O`s, pushes the Royals back 6.5 games out of first. Sadly the Royals are still in contention for the playoffs right now. As the AL Central continues to Struggle all around. Injuries and Age, being young or simply being old, have gotten the best of this division this season, but lets get to tonight. As the Royals look to Start their last 3 games of their 5 game home stand by taking on the Diamondbacks. So lets break it down.

Tonight at 7:10pm you have Kansas City's Luis Mendoza Playing host to the Diamondbacks Joe Saunders. Mendoza has a Record of 2-2 with an ERA of 4.76. As for Saunders. He has a record of 2-3 and an ERA of 3.43. Both of these pitchers have struggled at putting away teams with outs on the Board, but they look to change that tonight as Mendoza did great in his last performance, where he went 5 2/3 innings only giving up 1 run. look for a close game here as two struggling pitchers go head to head.

For Saturday May 19, 2012, @ 6:10pm, It's Bruce Chen for the Royals hosting Ian Kennedy of the D-Backs. Chen is 2-4 this season with a 4.34 ERA as Kennedy is 3-3, posting an ERA of 3.81. Chen is cruising along now after an 0-4 start he is now 2-0 this month as he beat Boston and Texas, going 6 and 2/3 innings in each game. Look for another close game here as Chen looks to go 3-0 in the month of May and Kennedy looks to gain his groove back.

As for the final game of the Series, on Sunday May 20, at 1:10pm It will Be the Royals, Pitcher TBA once again, vs. Arizona's Wade Miley. Miley is 4-1 this season with an ERA of 2.52. Look for a close game here as the Royals are are looking to have another winning home stand.

In this Series I would like to see them get their second sweep of the season, but I see the Royals winning 2 out of 3 here. I say this only because of the pitching match ups, and the fact this young team is very unpredictable. So tune in tonight at 7:10, as Mendoza takes on Saunders, on FSN MidWest. Go Royals!

Royals Clean Their Sox.

The Royals are on a 2 game winning streak and during this streak they have out scored their opponents 14-1. On top of that, the Royals are on  a  two series winning streak as well, where they defeated the White Sox two games to one as well as the Red Sox. The Royals are 4-2 in their last six games. improving them to 9-7 on the road and 4-13 at home. The Royals head to Texas to take on the hot hitting Rangers in a best of two game series, where they wrap up a five game road trip. So lets get to it.

Tonight at 7:05, the Rangers Scott Feldman will play host to Bruce Chen and the Royals. Feldman looks to make his second start in tonights game after giving up 2 runs and 6 hits in his last start vs the Yanks. He has a record 0-0 this season with an ERA of 4.35. Over the hill you have Chen, who picked up his first win of the season in his last time out vs the Red Sox, as he went 6 2/3 innings with 5 strike outs and only allowed 3 runs. Chen is 1-4 on the season with an ERA of 4.83. So look for a close game tonight as both teams look to continue their hot Streaks tonight.

Tomorrow, May 15, 2012, you have Colby Lewis playing Host to the Royals TBA Pitcher. Lewis is on a 2 game losing streak, but He is also 2-0 at home this season Posting an ERA of 1.45. Lewis is 3-2 overall with a combined ERA of 3.69. I look for another close game here as well. This game also begins at 7:05 pm.

I wold like to say the Royals will pull the upset and win both games, but due to the hit fest going on in Texas lately, I say they split the series at one a piece. Look for a good game both nights, but if one pitcher is not there for either team, look for the other team to take full advantage of it.

Back On The Road!

Fresh off their first home stand victory this season, the Royals, after a day off, head to Chicago to take on their division rival`s, the White Sox. The Royals ride in on a 2 game win streak as Chicago rides home on a 3 game sweep of the Tribe. And if a 2 game winning streak isn't enough, then you can't forget the fact the Royals are playing 1 game above .500 on the Road at 7-6. Not to Shabby..any who, today starts a new series. So lets lay it down, as the Royals begin their 5 game road trip.

Tonights match up will be the White Sox Gavin Floyd playing host to the Royals Felipe Paulino. Gavin Floyd comes into tonights game with a 2-3 Record and an ERA of 3.03. In his his last three outings Floyd has allowed 4 runs on 12 hits in 21 innings striking out 21 and walking 3 and is 1-1 in this time span. As for Paulino, he is 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00. In his first outing last saturday against the Yankees, As he retired the first 11 batters and pitched 6 shutout innings before Mijares allowed the one and only run in the 7th. So look for a close game tonight between these two, who are both on a little bit of a hot streak right now.

Tomorrow May 12, 2012, at 6:10pm, Eric Stults of the White Sox will play host to Luke Hochevar of the Royals. Eric Stults, while having no wins or losses, has an ERA of 3.00 and his only appearance this season was against the Indians on Wednesday, where he gave up 2 runs in 6 innings pitched. not to bad. Now on the other side of the hill, Hochevar is 2-3 with an ERA of 9.00. In Hoch's last start he gave up 7 runs on 7 hits in Just 2 1/3 innings, as he looks to capitalize on his last performance, look for yet another close game. As Hoch looks to make it too 3-3 and Stults looks to get his first win of the year.

Sunday, May 13, 2012, at 1:10pm, will be the final game of the series, as Phil Humber and the White Sox will play host to the Royals Danny Duffy. Humber is 1-2 on the season with an ERA of 3.83. Humber will be trying to come out of a post-perfect-game funk during which he`s allowed 20 earned runs on 21 hits in just 13 1/3 innings in just 3 starts, not to mention Humber has struggles against the AL Central at home thus far into the season. On the other hand, Duffy comes into Chicago with a record of 2-2 with an ERA of 4.00. As he lasted just 4 1/3 innings against Boston on Tuesday, where he gave up 4 runs (3 earned) on just 7 hits and walked 5. He is having a problem with his inability to throw strikes constantly, as its always been his downfall. look for a close game here too as Duffy looks to rebound and Humber looks to impress the home crowd and break his Slup against the AL Central.

I have the Royals winning this series 2 games to 1. As I see the bull pen for the Royals starting to come around as Greg Holland looks to head back up the the Majors after his solid outing down in Arkansas with the Naturals. As he will add Depth to a bull pen making a major rebound since the beginning of the season. Again tonight at 7:10 the Royals will take on the White Sox in Chicago. It`s Floyd taking on Paulino.

Royals Falu To Victory!

As Kansas City took a three nothing lead early in last nights game verse the Boston Redsox, they never looked back as Bruce Chen took the mound and pitched very well. As he only allowed 3 runs in the top of the third inning, 5 Strike outs, and an ERA of 4.83. compared to his 4 previous starts, this is good for him, But sadly Chen is not the story here as it was the Bottom of the Order who went 5/10 and brought in the Runs last night. Newly added Irving Falu batted .500 as he had 2 hits in 4 at bats with one run scored, which was the Game winning run, another one that has impressed me this season is Chris Getz, who went 2-3 last night and finally Escobar, who went 1-3 with an RBI. The Royals are playing way better as of lately, and I think they are growing up. Its like the movie I watched yesterday called the Perfect game, its a group of very young players who have to be taught how to play ball and grow together and become a team in just a short time. well this is kind of the scenario for the Royals this season. since 2003 they have scouted and scouted and low and behold we have a team now. Are they young? yes, but at least they will grow together along with a few veterans to play along side with. Its a young season and they are only 6 games out of first place right now and 5 1/2 out of second where I had them finishing this season. so there is still plenty of hope and a lot of young talent on the Rise. as crazy as sports have been lately, I could see the Royals making the post season this year. I know you may think I'm crazy but did anyone think Texas or Baltimore would be as good this season as they are now? I don't think so, Baltimore came silently out of the shadow, the Rangers came though this season when everyone doubted they could make a 3rd straight post season. both look promising right now and another surprise, the Angels. Pujols and Wilson were supposed to be Angels sent from above and well they haven't been yet. Wilson is doing ok, but he has no run support.. So, yeah, I am relying on this young Royals team to make an Impact unless more Injuries happen. So Be on the Look out Royals fans. and Enjoy this season and the next few as well. tomorrow I will give line ups and input on the next series in Chicago, as they take on the Whitesox at7:10.

Butler Makes A Special Delivery!

As the Royals trailed 3-4 in the Bottom of the 8th inning, Redsox pitcher Daniel Bard started off by walking the first two batters of the inning, who were Jarrod Dyson and Alex Gordon. After a mound visit and walking those two batters, coach Bobbie Valentine, of the Redsox, decided to pull Bard out of the game, with two on base and no outs in the inning. Bard was Relieved by Matt Albers, who came in to pitch against Kc`s Billy butler. Albers, who struck out Billy butler the night before, looked to have the same outing as the previous evening. Well Billy Butler thought differently, as he smashed a three-run home run off the reliever. Butler whomped that ball 402 feet into the left-field water fountain, giving the Royals a 6-4 lead. The late heroics came after a seventh-inning rally was cut short. The Royals had runners at second and third with one out, but Alcides Escobar's squeeze attempt resulted in Jeff Francoeur being thrown out at home. Brayan Pena then struck out to end the threat, But emotions swung from frustration to Jubilation an inning later with Butler's home run. As the Royals Third baseman, Mike Moustakas was quotes saying this

"He hit that ball, and we just went wild," "We knew we had [Jonathan Broxton] coming in to close it out, and we knew we were coming away with a 'W.'"

and then the man of the evening had this to say, "That's probably the best ball I hit this year so far, and I was just happy to do it in a big situation like that," Butler said.

Just a great night for the Royals as Albers, who had not allowed a run in seven games prior to the homer, said it simply was a lack of execution that led to the game-winning hit. Albers was quoted saying this after the game, "I'm trying to go down and away right there, which I still think is the right pitch," Albers said. "I talked to [catcher Kelly Shoppach] about it, and I could sit here and second guess, but I didn't execute. I didn't stay back on the rubber quite enough and the ball leaked over the plate. And he's a good hitter."

Butler's Bomb saved the Royals from what looked to be another loss brought by a short outing by a starting pitcher. Danny Duffy surrendered four runs in his abbreviated 4 1/3-inning outing on seven hits and five walks, striking out only one batter. Contributing to his early departure was his sky-high pitch count. He had thrown 53 pitches through two innings, 70 through three and 93 through four before exiting with a total of 102.

as Duffy had this to say, "I thought it was the worst outing of my year," Duffy said. "I don't feel like I commanded any of my pitches the way I should have, but that being said, my teammates had my back the whole time."

The bullpen picked Duffy up, tossing 4 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing the offense to stage the comeback. Kelvin Herrera pitched 1 2/3 innings, and Jose Mijares pitched two innings, saving the Royals from using long reliever Vin Mazarro, who was called up earlier in the day. Mijares earned the win, his second of the year, and Broxton pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his sixth save of the season.

This is what its all about, baseball is just about having fun and great team chemistry, the Royals showed that last night, and not just last night , but through this home stand. The Royals finish up the series against the Redsox tonight at 7:10 pm. It will be Chen Hosting Lester. look for a good game and another close one and maybe Chen could have a solid putting tonight and pick up his first W of the season.

The Redsox Are Coming!!

After the Royals split a 4 game series with the Yankees, they now get to host the Boston Redsox.....Boston comes into Kansas city at the bottom of their division as Kc comes into todays game looking for their 3rd win at home this season. Top story for now going into this series is the fact that Mike Aviles, who played in Kansas City for 4 years while batting a .285 average, is coming back to town. Boston 11-16 looking to get their first win in 5 tries after losing the last two of their series with Oakland, and being swept By the Oriels in their most recent series. So lets go ahead and move on with the match-ups .

Tonight on the mound for the Royals you have Jonathan Sanchez who will be hosting Felix Doubront of the Redsox. Sanchez is coming off of a win in his most recent outing in Detroit where he posted 5 scoreless innings, his record is now 1-1 on the season with an ERA of 5.24. For Doubront he enters tonights game at 1-1 as well with a 5.19 ERA. look for an exciting game tonight while once again its two bottom feeders in their divisions going head to head with both pitchers who are ok. So look for each team to go back and fourth in this one.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, May 8, 2012, you have Danny Duffy playing host to Bostons Daniel Bard. Duffy is 2-2 on the season with an ERA of 3.57, not to mention in his last time on the hill, he earned a win against the yanks, going 5 1/3 innings and notching up 6 strike outs. on the other side, Bard comes in at 2-3 with an ERA of 4.38, his last start against the A`s wasn't anything to celebrate about, as he allowed 4 runs in 8 innings with only 1 strike out. again look for another close game as each pitcher is doing, well, ok at this point in the season.

wrapping up the series on Wednesday, may 9, 2012 you have Bruce Chen taking on Jon Lester. Both of these pitchers are struggling after having ok seasons last year. As Chen enters this game at 0-4 with a 4.98 ERA and Lester comes in at 1-2 with an ERA of 4.62. Chen`s last time out he did great until Manager Ned host allowed him to pitch after 5 solid innings and a decent 6th, and then in the 7th he fatigued after just 2/3 of the inning and allowed four runs to score. As for Lester, he comes off a 13 inning game in which he lost to the Oriels. his team gave him 2 leads in the game, but Lester couldn't hang on as he gave up his second loss of the season.

I have each game of this series being close, but overall I have the Royals winning out the series 2 games to 1. The reason for this, well, The Royals Just came off a loss to the Yankees, losing 10-1. Then the young guns for the Royals are starting to find their hitting stride and they know how to win at home now. So tune into FS Kansas city at 7:10 to watch your Royals take on the Redsox.

Royals and Brox hand it to the boys from the Bronx!

Well I told you in yesterdays blog that it would be a close game last night and indeed it was. As the Royals Broxton helped lay the smack down in a 4-3 victory over the Yankees. The Royals also broke a 10 game losing streak at home. Key factors to the win, well for starters the Royals scored early when Moustakas hit his 5th dinger of the season to put the Royals up 1-0 in the second. Then they never looked back from there, when the Yankees scored the Royals scored. That is something they lacked in the previous month and started getting better at towards the end. Its finally starting to kick in for these young guys, Danny Duffy pitched 5 1/3 innings only giving up 1 earned run to Robinson Canoe. Dyson, Hosmer, and Moustakas all went 2 for 4,  while Moose hit a home run in the bottom of the second. Then Defensively the Royals played out standing. As the Royals turned 2 double plays in the game and the one that Really saved them was when Getz scooped it up bare handed, flopped it to Escobar who threw a steaming hopper over to Hosmer, who caught it off of a awkward bounce, for a double play that Got Broxton out of a big Pickle. Broxton would Go on to get the save, and the Royals would Collect their first win at home this season.

Tonights match up is between CC Sabathia and Bruce Chen. I call this one being a close game as well since you have an 0-3 pitcher in Chen, taking on a pitcher who is 3-0 in Sabathia. If the boys in blue can Play like they did last night, then we will have a great series at Kauffman. Tune in tonight at 7:10 and cheer on your Royals as they host the Yankees on FSN KC.

Thursday, May 3, 2012

Here Come The Yankees!!!

The Royals Finish yet another Series on the Road as they Picked up the W yesterday vs Justin Verlander, who pitched very well, but he fell short as Chris Getz hit a zinger over Austin Jackson in center field Scoring Moustakas to put the Royals up 3-2 in the ninth for the win. with that win, the Royals improve to 7-6 on the Road, 1 game above .500, as they head back home where they are 0-10 this season. They will be taking on the the Boys from the Bronx, the Yankees, who are hitting very well lately. So lets get down to business, as I give you the pitching match up`s for the next four games of the Royals 7 game home stand.

Tonight at 7:10 The Royals Danny Duffy will play host to the Yankees David Phelps. Duffy is 1-2 on the Season with a 3.63 ERA. yes Duffy did miss his last start after having some stiffness in his elbow, but he is feeling better now and says he is ready to go. On the other side you have Phelps, he has no wins or losses on the season, in fact this will be his Season debut. Phelps is a St. Louis native and is looking to put on quite a show for his family, fans, and teammates. look for a good game here and possibly extra innings with these two young pitchers leading the way.

Tomorrow, May 4, 2012 @ 7:10, the Royals Bruce Chen, will play host to the Yankees CC Sabathia. It will be The battle of the Lefties as Chen is 0-3 looking for his first win on the season and Sabathia is 3-0 looking to stay undefeated this season. Hopefully the Royals good defense and great hitting will continue over the next 2 days and Give Chen his first win and hand Sabathia his first loss. look for another close game and Chen and Sabathia duke it out.

On Saturday, May 5, 2012. The Royals have yet to announce who will be pitching against the Yankees Hiroki Kuroda, who is 2-3 on the season and has a 3.69 ERA. This game will also be a tribute night to George Brett`s Pine Tar incident that happened at Yankee Stadium on July 24, 1983 while the Royals were trailing 4-3 in the top of the ninth inning, George Brett of the Royals hit a 2-run home run and gave the Royals the lead. However Yanks manager Billy Martin noticed a large amount of pine tea on Brett`s bat, and requested that the umpires inspected his bat. The umpires in fact ruled that the amount of pine tar on the bat was to much, which led to Brett being called out, the home run being reversed and the Yankees winning the game. After the game the Royals protested the game, and AL President Lee MacPhail upheld their protest and ordered the game be replayed from the point of Brett`s home run. The Game resumed on August 18 and officially ended with the Royals winning 5-4. So there is some history behind the night as the Royals take on the Pinstripes. I will be looking for yet another good game between these two teams as well should you.

Finally on Sunday, May 6, 2012. The Royals will wrap up the Four game series @ 12:10, as Luke Hochevar will play host to Phil Hughes. Hoch is 2-2 on the season with a 7.36 ERA as Hughes comes in at 1-4 with a 7.48 ERA on the season. Look at yet another Grudge match as two mediocre pitchers battle it out against one young Motivated team, and the other faces a very experienced been there done that team.

I have the Royals going 3-1 in the series. I say this because they are young, no one really knows their stuff, they are hungry for their first win at home and Just came off a win against a dominate Pitcher in the MLB in Justin Verlander. If none of these get you pumped as a player, then you do not deserver to call your self a player. So tune in tonight as they Royals play host to the Yankees. Again its a battle of the youngsters. Duffy vs Phelps.

Best Of The Best!

So this morning on the radio show I work for, we talked about having a Mount Rushmore dedicated to 4 Royals Greats. and since the Royals had a rain out yesterday, I figure we can have a little fun today and discuss who I`d have in my top four. So agree or disagree, and if you do disagree, go ahead and give me your top 4.

I will start from number 4 down to number 1. So here we go.

#4 I have Dennis Leonard. yes this was close while Splittorff had 4 seasons with 10 complete games and notched up 17 shutouts. He also leads the Royals in all time wins with 166, then you had Saberhagen with 2 Cy young awards and had the most wins in a season for a Royal ever with 23. Not to mention both guys had a World series title, but Leonard caught my attention as the all-time Royals leader in complete games with 103, Shutouts with 23, 2nd in wins with 144 and 3rd in strikeouts with 1,323. Also, he helped form the Royals pitchers in 1985 due to a leg injury that kept him from playing, but he still got a ring. I put leonard on the list because I have an infielder, an outfielder/ infielder, and a coach on this list so I pick him as my pitcher... I know there were many through the early years, but he stuck out the most.

#3 on my list is Frank White, who is an 8 time gold glove winner, a 5 time all-star, ALCS MVP of 1980, and a world Series Champion of 1985.White finished his career second on the Royals all-time list in games played 2,324, at bats 7,859, and hits 2,006.his number 20 is one of 3 Royals numbers to be retired. He now coaches for the Royals AA team, the Wichita Wranglers, after a short sting in the Royals Sports Television Network on Fox Midwest.

#2 on my list is Coach Dick Howser, He took the Royals to the top of baseball and will never be forgotten for taking the Royals to their first world series championship in 1985. he led the Royals to 3 division titles and 2 world series appearances, 1980, and 1985. this is why I give him my #2 position on my list of top 4. His number 10 was the first of 3 Royals numbers to be retired in Royals history.

#1 on my list of 4 is none other than Mr. George Brett. Brett Is the greatest player to wear blue and white, not to mention one of the Leagues greatest clutch hitters of all time. The name George Brett will never be forgotten in Major League Baseball, from the Pine tar incident to world series champion, Brett was also a 13 time all-star, the 1980 AL MVP, 1985 Gold Glove winner, he had 3,000 plus hits, 300 home runs, 600 doubles, 100 triples and 200 stolen bases in his 20 seasons with the Royals and Oh yes, he was also the first player in Major League history to win a batting title in 3 different decades, in 1976, 1980, and 1990. His number 5 was also one of the Three numbers to be retired in Royals franchise history and for those reasons, that is why I have George Brett at #1 on my mount Rushmore of Royals players.

All these players made my list because they were dominate at what they did. Yes I left out Willie Wilson, Dan Quisenberry, Whitey Herzog, Ewing and Muriel Kauffman, and a few others, but they have already made the Hall Of Fame in Kansas City, and have or will make the Hall Of Fame in Coopers Town, but if you disagree with any of mine, go ahead and tell me who you think should be in here. So feel free to comment.
